Christmas Gift FAQs

Christmas Gift

What delivery address do I use when making a payment?

When ordering Christmas Bundles, you will be asked for a delivery address, which will be auto–filled, using your billing address. You do not need to change this as our team in Uganda will deliver the Christmas gift to your sponsored child.

Will my sponsored child receive the bundle I have bought?

The simple answer is ‘yes’ they will.

Will every sponsored child receive a gift?

Absolutely they will. Our aim is to ensure that every sponsored child whom we can deliver a gift to this Christmas will receive something.

What about the children who currently have no sponsor?

We do not wish any of the children to miss out on receiving a gift this Christmas. That’s why we appeal to our supporters who do not sponsor a specific child.

Where will the Christmas Bundle I have chosen be delivered to and when?

The items that make up the various bundles will be purchased in bulk by our team in Uganda and then delivered to the children via their school communities. This will commence before Christmas.

If I don’t sponsor a child, can I donate to this scheme?

Yes, please do. The Christmas Gift scheme is open to all who would like to contribute, be they a sponsor or not, to ensure that Abaana’s children receive a gift at Christmas.

Will you know that my donation is for my sponsored child as there is nowhere to add their name?

Yes, we will know to which child your donation is to be given. Following your donation, we will match your name in our records to the child(ren) you sponsor.

Can I donate any amount I choose to this scheme?

Yes you may indeed. You need not be limited to the amounts prescribed to each Christmas Bundle. However, you can select multiples of any one Bundle, or a selection of Bundles, should you wish to give more. Also you can select a link within the introductory page to the Christmas Gift scheme which will take you to our online donation page. Within this you may select ‘Christmas Gift’ during Step 2 from the drop down against the project line and enter the amount of your choosing.

Will my sponsored child know that the gift is from me?

Yes, when they receive the gift, they will be told that it is from their sponsor.

Can I send a personal message or Christmas greeting to my sponsored child with the Bundle I have chosen?

No, not directly through this part of our website. However, we would encourage you to write to your sponsored child by sending an email to sponsorship@abaana.org and we will forward this on to our team in Uganda who will deliver it to your sponsored child in due course. Alternatively, you may write a letter and post it into our office and we will scan this and email it to our team in Uganda for delivery.

Can I send my own parcel instead of selecting a Christmas Bundle from this scheme?

Yes, you can, but we would not recommend doing so during the busy Christmas period. For Christmas gifts, we encourage all sponsors to use the Christmas Gift scheme. Abaana staff are working hard to get the best deals by bulk buying and all the transport and distribution costs are shared across hundreds of children in each area. This means your money goes further and of course if you are a UK taxpayer, we can claim 25% extra in Gift Aid.

We also believe that the items chosen within the Christmas Gift scheme are truly a ‘best fit’ in the present circumstances for the children and their families. It is also more cost effective than posting items to Uganda (we hear sponsors being charged anywhere from £20 – £50 for postage alone) and often there can be challenges with parcels not arriving or taking a long time to arrive.

Can I let others know about this scheme?

Certainly, please do share this with your friends, family, colleague, places of work, churches, schools etc. Anyone can contribute to this scheme. If you would like our help in sharing the details of this scheme with others, then please do contact our office and our staff will be only too pleased to assist you.

I have another question which is not covered here – who should I speak to?

Please telephone the Abaana office (+44(0) 28 91 451 918) and a member of staff will be pleased to help you with your enquiry. Alternatively, you can email the office info@abaana.org and we will respond to your enquiry as soon as we are able.
