No charity organisation can run without people. Abaana has a fantastic team of people – a board of trustees, a staff team and many volunteers. These people are at the heart of our organisation. They are passionately committed and dedicated to the vision of Abaana working to deliver life changing projects to those who need it most.

Founder & CEO

Scott provides overall leadership and strategic direction for the work of Abaana in the UK and also serves as International Director on the Board of Abaana Uganda.
Scott is driven by his passion for making genuine and lasting change to the lives of boys and girls living in poverty in Uganda.

Fiona Baxter

PA

Fiona is the longest serving staff member of Abaana, having joined in 2004. As well as her role as PA to the CEO, she is responsible for a range of key areas across the organisation including Gift Aid, accounting and providing support to staff across all departments.

Louise Skelton

Teams Coordinator

Louise joined Abaana in 2015 and is responsible for leading all work in relation to the Abaana teams travelling to Uganda. This area of work has grown substantially – to the point where currently, on average, 8 teams a year travel out to Uganda to work across Abaana’s projects. Louise also has lead UK responsibility for New Life Homes and Abaana’s Street Reach programme.

Child Sponsorship Coordinator

Chris joined the Abaana team in 2019 and has lead responsibility for administering and developing Abaana’s Child Sponsorship scheme. This includes providing an on–going service to Abaana’s existing sponsors and encouraging new sponsors to join the scheme and provide access to education for so many more children.

Administrator

Leanne recently joined the team in 2023, and is responsible for the day to day administration of the office. This includes maintaining databases, responding to queries, assisting in preparing for fundraisers and helping with any other office needs.

Originally from Ireland, though based in Uganda since 2011, Gill gives overall direction and leadership to Abaana Ministries Uganda, and is passionate about using her God given gifts and call to serve vulnerable children.

Programme Manager

Supports all Department Heads in delivery of program activities such as sponsorship, school construction, and rehabilitation of street boys, with a heart for seeing lives changed for the better and a strong passion for Christian discipleship.

Esther Muloki

Esther Muloki

Finance & Administration Manager

Esther leads the accounting function with God–given skills and integrity, promoting excellent stewardship of resources through recording all financial transactions, keeping records and creating reports.


 

Deogratius Oundo

Education and Sponsorship Manager

Oversees all processes and planning so that all activities related to supporting partner schools and sponsorship of children is done efficiently and effectively.


 

Susan Nassimbwa

Partnership Development Manager

With excellent organisational skills and a lot of institutional knowledge built up over many years of service, Susan oversees special projects that heavily inform resource mobilisation, including Choir, Teams, special sponsorships, and the Guesthouse.

Sponsorship Officer

With an incredible gift in working with children, Hannah provides the sponsorship function with responsibility for scholastic materials, giving of gifts, and other direct contact activities.

With a pastoral heart, Andrew supports the sponsorship function with responsibility for scholastic materials, giving of gifts, and other direct contact activities.

Geoffrey Kamuntu

Geoffrey Kamuntu

Education Coordinator

Geoffrey (’known as ‘Reverend’ due to his strong Biblical knowledge) supports tertiary level students and helps the schools improve in their education delivery through monitoring their financial spending, promoting Christian activities in all schools, problem solving and capacity building.

New Life Homes Manager

In charge of all areas of NLH, being the Homes Warden, Sarah is passionate about providing a safe, hygienic and welcoming place for boys to receive temporary care as part of their rehabilitation and resettlement back to families.


 

Joseph Bajainja

Social Worker – Resettlement

Joseph cheerfully spends hours on dusty and bumpy road tracing homes and visiting resettled children as he leads activities related to reunification of boys back to their families and building up family structures.

Social Worker – Residential Care

An ‘Uncle’ in every way, Eddie is responsible for providing suitable physical, pastoral and emotional care for the former street–connected boys while resident at the NLH.


 

Fionah Ganda

Guesthouse Overseer

With a strong hospitality gift, Fionah heads up the Guesthouse through providing meals, hosting teams and visitors and keeping the environment hygienic and welcoming.


 

Harriet Namugenyi

New Life Homes House Mother

Harriet is a superhero who has dedicated over a decade to cooking meals and providing a hygienic environment while giving care to boys at the NLH.

Godfrey Ekwaro

Godfrey Ekwaro

New Life Homes Night Guard

Godfrey provides security at the NLH to ensure a safe environment, though also acts as a father figure through his mature and gentle interaction with the boys while present on the NLH site.

Ronald Obara

Ronald Obara

New Life Homes Cover Staff

Ronald, a former sponsored child, helps at the New Life Homes over weekends and when staff are absent, having great interest in seeing boys’ lives change for the better.
